Higher Knowledge

We humans have access to two very different sources of knowledge. Ordinary knowledge is built on collecting factual observations, identifying patterns among them, and formulating rules to predict future events. Higher knowledge, in contrast, derives from isolated flashes of inspiration that seemingly come out of nowhere

Some of the insights of higher knowledge can be confirmed by the routine procedures of ordinary knowledge, but others remain permanently in the realm of imagination and mystery. The resulting tension has shaped both human nature and human history.

Ordinary Knowledge and Higher Knowledge — Western civilization typically regards only knowledge based on fact and reason as real. However, there are alternative paths of intuition and vision that have their own validity.

Can’t Get There From Here — Human history has been shaped at every turn by the imperatives of higher knowledge. Over and over, prophets and dreamers have plunged into the well of infinite possibility and returned with a vision of who we are and what we might become.

The Ouroboros Serpent and the Cycle of Creation (Coming Soon) — Higher knowledge is never ours to command. It is a will o’ the wisp that descends upon us uncalled whenever we are faced with a problem that ordinary knowledge cannot resolve.
